The Great Turtle Myth: A Model of Social Self-Regulation<\/h1>\n

Methodological annotation:<\/strong> This paper explores the archetypal model of the “Great Turtle”<\/b> as a fundamental construct defining the stability and boundaries of world descriptions. The research methodology is based on the deconstruction of infinite regression in foundational supports<\/b> (the “turtles all the way down” problem), analyzed through the lens of attention levels. The author examines the cognitive trap of seeking a “prime foundation,” contrasting the linear logic of the Second Attention with the volumetric perception of the Third. In the previous post on personality types (more precisely, \u201cClassification of accentuations \u2013 a psychological typology developed based on the concept of accentuation (character, personality)\u201d we described the existing classification of currently identified types. It is also necessary to understand that evaluating a personality type as \u201cgood\/bad\u201d is meaningless)))) in fact, millions of years of evolution have left exactly this combination alive. That is, they are all evolutionarily necessary!<\/p>\n

No type model is either best or worst! And each model has its own \u201cdisadvantages\u201d and its own \u201cadvantages.\u201d That is, it turns out that the rule of \u201capplicability of models\u201d comes into play here; for one, one model is better, for another, another\u2026<\/p>\n

For example, \u201cschizoids\u201d think most logically, and they are mainly the ones who \u201cdrive technical science,\u201d but when it comes to \u201csocial knowledge,\u201d they work much worse than, say, \u201chysteroids\u201d\u2026 But perhaps I will try to describe these features later, analyzing each type in more detail.<\/p>\n

Each personality type, as it were, forms a \u201cvector of movement\u201d in life\u2026 And a vector of pressure in society.<\/p>\n

Now let\u2019s try to imagine a model of \u201cinternal self-regulation\u201d<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a Regular Triangular Pyramid. And imagine that the edges of the pyramid are the pressure vectors of \u201cpersonality types\u201d directed towards the apex.<\/p>\n

Next, let\u2019s imagine that the \u201chuman species (society)\u201d is a ball (with mass) placed on the top of the regular pyramid. The balance of the system is the equal strength of these vectors and the preservation of the \u201cregularity of the pyramid.\u201d That is, the balance of the system is regulated by the direction and strength of the pressure of \u201cpersonality types.\u201d<\/p>\n

In this case, I fictitiously add \u201cgravity\u201d (or give the ball mass) to demonstrate the mechanism of internal \u201cnormalization of the system.\u201d<\/p>\n

When, for some reason, one of the forces manages to increase pressure on the ball, then the \u201cregularity of the pyramid\u201d is disturbed, and the center of pressure shifts (increase in pressure force) onto the weaker vectors. Under the pressure force, the personality type vector \u201csenses a threat\u201d and makes efforts to \u201cpump up the muscles\u201d of its properties and qualities, that is, it \u201cqualitatively improves itself\u201d to increase the pressure force of the personality type vector and restore the balance of the \u201cregular pyramid.\u201d<\/p>\n

But there is also a certain \u201cexternal pressure\u201d on this system\u2026 It can be called \u201cevolutionary\u201d force\u2026 or something else. But it exists.<\/p>\n

This is visible when they \u201ctry to slow down development\u201d \u2026 a certain potential of force accumulates, which brings \u201csociety into an excited state\u201d and something inevitably starts)) uprisings, wars, perhaps epidemics\u2026 But in the end, something new appears and a certain balance (the regularity of the pyramid) is restored \u2013 and \u201cacceleration in development\u201d occurs. That is, we cannot say whether \u201cevolutionary forces are pressing or pulling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Actually, having finished describing how it looks in my opinion, it seemed to me that I had seen something similar somewhere\u2026 Digging through my memory, I remembered! This description is very similar to the \u201cMyth of the Great Turtle\u201d\u2026. A piece of land supported by 3 elephants standing on the back of a Turtle swimming somewhere\u2026. (truth be told, whether there are 3 or 4 \u2013 I haven\u2019t quite figured out yet)))). Actually, from some point on, I was forced to stop considering myths, legends, epics, etc. \u2013 as fiction. I think they were created at the level of knowledge and narratives of their time, and this is just some way to describe \u201ccomprehension\u201d in an accessible manner.<\/p>\n

Naturally, this model is simplified and presented solely for \u201cunderstanding the mechanisms.\u201d And there are many more forces, properties, and qualities (and accordingly vectors), as well as the base of the pyramid \u2013 a polygon with who knows how many angles. And in general, to describe such models, it\u2019s better to switch to \u201cdescriptions by physicists,\u201d but I\u2019m weak in that.<\/p>\n

The general impression is that \u201chumanity\u201d is, as it were, a kind of \u201catom\u201d upon which external forces act and it is \u201cobliged to occupy\u201d a certain \u201cpoint in space.\u201d<\/p>\n
